Website Structure Improvement

Submitted by Detlev Conrad … on Mon, 12/17/2012 - 14:29

Sadly there is not a lot of new content to publish, however I have spent some time improving the layout and structure of the website.

The number of menu entries in the main menu has been reduced and the navigation menu has become more important. While this may mean more clicks, it has made the website structure a bit more consistent and logical.

Dependent on time and mood I will potentially roll out further updates to my website - which should include content as well besides further restructuring.

As usual, feedback is always welcome.

Holiday Over... - And Bad News For Me

Submitted by Detlev Conrad … on Thu, 10/25/2012 - 23:33

So, I took a little holiday with hopes that I would update and restructure my website - well, it turned out this didn't happen... not in a significant way by any means. I modified some of my pages, changed the academia section... and then stopped halfway through trying to figure out how best to display mathematics (the image version one sometimes sees is ugly... but relying on a third party service to display LaTeX doesn't sound like a good plan either...)

Well... things to do...

Fotomoto removed

Submitted by Detlev Conrad … on Sat, 10/13/2012 - 13:23

At some point I will need to make changes to my gallery, expanding the amount of images but also switching from full sized images to lower resolution files to reduce the associated server load. I do not yet know when I get the time to update my gallery, but as a first step, fotomoto has been removed.

Any requests for image prints will need to go through Artflakes or 500px. Having said that, the nature of the zenphoto setup was also not in favour of using fotomoto. As filenames are obscured direct links aren't created which makes it, to put it mildly, rather messy.

A big ups on my side - I just noticed that comments were available only to registered users (which I don't offer) - ups....

Well, comments are now availably for everybody, provided they pass the reCaptcha test to block spam. After a comment is posted it still needs to be approved.
Hopefully that will bring in some comments :D

Update December 2015: Due to excessive Spam, comments were disabled a long time ago...
